(slightly) violaceous Peziza from Portugal
Lothar Krieglsteiner, 01-02-2019 14:37
Lothar Krieglsteiner

.. collected at 22.12.2013, Portugal, Algarve, nature reserve "Fonte Benemola", on naked calcareous soil, near Quercus ilex, Cistus u.a. (more not exactly noted).

My determination attempts end at Peziza azureoides. The spore lenght would fit and the ornament consists of partly connected ridges not really forming a net.

As I am not really happy with this, I thought perhaps I overlooked a milk. But, I think it cannot be P. micheli, not only because of the colors, but also in the spores having only one large guttule.

Can somebody say if I am right or (fully) wrong - or give me any hint?

Best regards, Lothar

Can perhaps somebody give me a hint - am I fully wrong of perhaps right?

And - what should I do to get further?

Best regards, Lothar

Hi Lothar
I would go for Peziza succosella if asci do not arise from croziers...
Cheers,
Raúl

Hi Raul,

thank you very much for your opinion. I thought of P. succosa-group, but the violaceous tint rejected me from this. Do you find succos(ell)a with such colors?

Cheers, Lothar

Hi again Lothar
No, I have never seen such violaceous tinge in my Peziza succosella  collections (also not present in my Peziza succosa collections). By the way, I don't see it neither on your photos. But on the net you can find some collections of Peziza succosella with violaceous tint.
Cheers,
Raúl

I think I will label the specimen P. succosella.
