Scutellinia superba or torrentis
Malcolm Greaves, 17-07-2016 01:04
Malcolm GreavesThis single fruit body was found in the same woodland as the S torrentis and when the spore wall floated off I assumed that it was the same. When taking the details there were one or two differences which makes me less sure.
The apothecia (2mm) had very few hairs at the margin. Those that there were measured 390 and were simple/bi/tri furcate and had 5-7 septa.
The spores were (19.48) 20.82 (21.66) x (10.66) 11.79 (12.41) and ellipsoid / narrowly ellipsoid.
Thanks
Mal

Hello Malcolm

We do not distinguish very well the hair on your photo. Your copy may be just a little old!

Michel.

Hello,
there I would also not commit myself. S. superba has I like on the photos in recollection.
Greetings Peter.

Re : Scutellinia superba or torrentis
As there was only one specimen and there were so few hairs I only put one sample under the scope but here are one or two more photos which I hope may help.
