Pyreno on decorticated wood
Lepista Zacarias, 14-09-2015 00:16
Hi everyone,
I found this pyreno growing on the wood of a decorticated tree. The advanced maturity make the perithecia look like apothecia. Here are some details of it in addition to the attached photos:

- Asci with indicative dimensions 73.2 - 87.1 x 7.6 - 9.9 µm;
- Spores hialine multiseptate, mostly 3-septate but there are some with more septa, with
(18.7) 20 - 28.7 (29.4) x (3.9) 4.1 - 5.4 (5.6) µm
Q = (4.1) 4.3 - 5.8 (6.2) ; N = 20; Me = 23.2 x 4.7 µm ; Qe = 5;
- All parts I-.

Thanks in advance for any hint about its classification,
zaca

Re : Pyreno on decorticated wood
This could well be a species of Niesslia. Not all of them have spines on the peritheecia. I would be interested to study it if you care to send it to me at the address Molenweg 15, 3743CK Baarn, Netherlands.  Best wishes  Walter

Re : Pyreno on decorticated wood
Hi Walter,
Thanks for your response and for the hint about the genus, that is new to me. Meanwhile I saw some images in the internet and the sections (as well as the spores) of some species are indeed very similar, except for the inexistence of spines in this case.
As requested I will send you a part of the specimen, which broke into pieces (because the wood was degradating).
Thanks again,
zaca
