Salut à tous,
I must admit that I'm quite out of depth with this Nectrioid species that I found on blackened Salix wood (I assume there is some other fungus present) in the South of England 6/2/2015
51.124°N 0.1418°W, 81 metres above sea level
Ascospores 7 - 9.4 x 3 - 4.1, subtly striated, live spores with ~2 guttules
Ascocarp wall 31-55 µm thick, KOH-
No anamorph seen
Without culture, I'm certainly not expecting a name for this collection, but I know there are a few regular visitors here that are interested in these species and might be able to help.
I have a dried collection of about 30 perithecia.
Amitiés,
Hi Nick,
A very very interesting species ! Excellent photos.
It should be a Nectria s.l. But perhaphs an unknown one.
Let's wait specialists.
Alain
Interesting specimen, you should sheck if there are numerous orange oily droplets in ascomatal wall and hymenium, by crushing (in water) a perithecium under a cover slide.
Regards,
Christian
I think your specimen remains in the Hydropisphaera "peziza" complex.
Could you check the size of ascospores?
Christian
Rien de tel qu'un vieux renard expérimenté !
Je n'avais pas reconnu Hydropisphaera peziza s.l. . Mais avec KOH-, spores striées, j'aurais dû y penser.
Alain
