Pyreno on Caragana
Marja Pennanen, 29-12-2014 13:43
Hi,

I have struggled to determine this dark fungus, which I found on Caragana, if I remember the substrate correctly.
They are about 0,5-0,8 mm wide and almoust immersed.
The spores are muriform, 25-30x9-10 and seems to have somekind of shield or connection, when inside the asci.
The asci are about 190-220x12-15.

I have very limited and old sources for determining pyrenomycetes.
Maybe this is a species of Teichospora, Cucurbitaria or Pleomassaria?
Where to find good litterature?

Hi Marja
maybe this will help? you will see on page 174 a Cucurbitaria caraganae - type collection, as far as I can see, from Finland . . . . ;-)
Best wishes
Chris

Hi Chris,

thank you!
Nice to get the determinations!
Cucurbitaria caraganae fits perfectly.
This Karsten species should be common here, but new for me anyway :D
