Eutypa lata?
Garcia Susana, 08-01-2014 23:19
hi all

Pyrenomycete found on unidentified wood.
They were very old, but I have managed to get some data.
The reaction with IKI I think it was weakly positive (hard to see).
I find it difficult to follow the keys. I think it may be Eutypa lata.
Can anyone confirm or reject this idea?

Thank you,

Susana (Spain)

Re : Eutypa lata?
Hola Susana,
Eutypa lata is a possible name for your fungus but you cannot be certain about such an old depauperate specimen. Its main characteristic feature is the morphology of the ostioles: smooth or hardly sulcate, while they are usually more deeply sulcate in other species of Eutypa.
Eutypa lata is extremely common on many hosts, you should easily find it again in better condition to make a safer identification and come back to the forum with a more detailed description.
Cheers,

Jacques
