Åge OterhalsI found this pyrenomycetous fungi in mountain area
Can someone give me some advice on this Asco?
Description:
Apothecia up to about 0.7 mm in diameter, covered with white hairs (see photos). Hymenium dark yellow to olivaceous from above, but light yellow in side view when cut.
Microscopy: Hairs at least up to 70 µm (difficult to measure) cylindrical, septate at distances of 5-10 µm, somewhat thick-walled (about 0.3 µm? ) only 2-2.5 µm broad covered with fine granules, hyaline at apex, brownish at the base, blueing in Iodine, well visible at base, getting blue in KOH as well!
Asci 50-60 x 3.5-4.5 µm, with a very small blueing pore in Iodine. Paraphyses filiform, only about 1 µm in diameter. Spores most probably not ripe, but squeezed out, narrow-ellipsoid measuring about 6-7 x 2 µm.
Substrate: Alnus wood, from a living stem
If you need information I did not provide please ask.
Grateful for any ideas
Stefan
