I have found something strange on twigs of Betula, I think it has similarities with Massaria/Aglaospora or Splanchnonema, but I am not sure about the correct species. I hope someone can help me here ;)
Well here is a description:
Fruitbody sphaerical, grey-brown with hairy outside and a central ostiolus, growing completely under the cortica.
Spores 50-60 x 12- 15 µm, ellipsoid, with 5-6 cells filled with guttules, olivebrown, smooth, centralsepte a bit smaller (constricted? what is the english word for this?), with a distinct gelatinous sheath.
Asci with 8 spores. Paraphyses hyaline.
Many thanks for help ;)
cheers, Kazuya

Re:Massariaceae
Hi Christian,
yes I thought the same compared to Barals drawings...I thinkt it is S. argus, but I was not sure because I had never seen this species (not in natura, not on photos) ;)
cheers and thanks,
Kazuya

Re:Massariaceae
Hi Kazuya,
I forgot to tell you there is a paper available through Cyberliber which deals with Splanchnonema:
Barr 1982, On the Pleomassariaceae in North America, Mycotaxon XV, 349-383.
Good evening,
Jacques
