yellow discomycet on Pinus
Gernot Friebes, 27-07-2009 13:37
Hello,

I found this discomycet this year's spring on a quite fresh branch of Pinus sylvesrtis. Because of the striking colour and the big spores I thought of Amicodisca but:

- the haris are clavate, not cylindrical/narrowing
- the asci are IKI-

Maybe someone can help me with this find.

Best wishes,

Gernot

Hi Gernot,
It looks to me as a Chlorosplenium like species, the things i never find in the Netherlands.

Hi Gernot

yes, this is a very nice fungus and I know it from the alps as well as from Schwäbische Alb on rather undecayed conifer bark. Xerotolerant and perhaps therefore overlooked. I never found a description that fits. You find it on the DVD, in dir. Encoelioideae, under Crumenulopsis. Presently the directory is named "yellow exudate". HB numbers are 5840d and 3567c.

It could well be a Crumenulopsis but I am not sure. The warted hairs and yellow exudate are unusual there.

One of the many new species to be described...

Hi Stip and Zotto,

thank you very much for your opinions! I collected the fungus on a rainy day and when it dried it was hardly visible with a folded margin so the xerotolerance could be seen quite well.

Best wishes and thanks again,

Gernot
