Rutstroemia

Hi,

I found this undetermined ascomycete on broadleaf wood in a botanical garden with many exotic trees.
The spores measure 19-22 x 4.7-5.4 µm.
I am thinking of Rutstroemia, but either the habitat or the spores do not match.
Any ideas?
Thank you.

Why do you think R. firma does not fit? Spore size, shape and content  is o.k. for it. E.g. Huhtinen 1984 measured 19-23 x 4-5 for a sample on Alnus.

There is a R. alnobetulae which could alternatively fit. I remember the contents of the paraphyses stained blue in IKI, and the ectal excipulum is more gelatinous.

Re : Rutstroemia
Hi,

I have never seen it so funnel-shaped and always with minor spores.
Thank you.

Re : Rutstroemia
R. firma is variable and occurs in a shorter- and straight-spored form. Probably there is a heterogeneity, becasue of a distinct genetical difference among collections which needs more study.

I think the apo shape is not important.

Hi,

Thank you for the explanation.
Good day.
