Hello forum,
I collected these tiny, dark discs on Vaccinium vitis-idaea leaves in september in Lapland. Now I rehydrated them, took photos inside (sorry about the quality, which is as poor as allways) and studied.
These are about 0,2 mm wide and grow partly immersed in the subsrate.
The spores are septate, about 14-22x4-5, sharper at the other end.
The asci are about 45-70x10-12, IKI+ blue and paraphyses are abpout 2-3 wide.
I have no idea even of the genus : Marja

Quite impossible for me to say, even that it is not alive. The margin is a bit toothed? Did you see the excipulum? A Micropeziza perhaps?

Hi Zotto,
I got to study this a bit more later after my daugter has visited me. There were something pink ones on the leaves of that Vaccinium stem, too and I'm not yet sure weathet they are developing ones of this same species.
Anyway I accidently found a bit similar looking spores from a document I downloaded from Byssosphaeria. When I looked for data of the spores of that genus, I found spores, that are fitting even better from the genus Patellaria. The fruitbodies even look similar.
I naturally have no key to that genus.

Hello,
the paraphyses of these may be widened at the tips and there is some cluying material around the tips, where things sticks, for instance spores. The spores may come septate in the asci or outside. In my opinion the shape of them seems to change, while septas appear so that the other end comes sharper.
The fruitbodies may be up to 0,5 mm when fresh and when they dry a veil seems to turn (in ~4 pieces) from the sides on the fruitbodies. I should study this more, because I did not watch that all the time, but got that impression.

Hello once again,
now I rehydrated the dry fungus by adding a bit of water on the top of it and watched how it grow and turned the veil away to its sides. I did not watch how it dries, because it will propabably shrink and the veil will turn back on it. The veil seems to be the outer surface of the substrate.
I thought, that I'm a bit naughty teasing a fungus like that ;)

As always I must emphasize that with dead asci it makes no sense to state whether the spores were septate inside them or not.
But: the asci are thin-walled apically, so Patellaria is excluded.
A closeup of the ectal excipulum would have been good, I think it is angularis, so a Durella is excluded, which would be unusual on wood.
Your IKI+ statement refers to the apical ring? Blue I suppose?

there is a problem, because I do not see many cells. Among the photos there is one (4.) with a hole fruitbody, which I pressed. There is allways a part of the substrate with the specimen. They are tiny and it is almost impossible to get rid of it.
But when you asked I thought to try to make a section to get the cells visible. Here are the results. Once again sorry about the quality. Seems, that I newer get proper photos with the equipment I have.

The next time you should study this when fresh.
