Parorbiliopsis (?) on pyrenomycete
Enrique Rubio, 30-01-2017 18:26
Enrique RubioHi again
These small (0.3-0.4 mm) narrowly sessile, whitish later amber-colour apothecia were growing on old stromata of pyrenomycetes on hardwood.
The excipulum is mader by angular/subangular, roundish hyaline thin-walled cells, brownish near the base. And the marginal cells are smooth and narrowly clavate.
Asci without croziers, IKI bb of the Calycina-type. Paraphyses filiform with no conspicuous content, no VBs.
I think this fungus could be near to the genus Parorbiiopsis non s.str.
How do you think?
Many thanks again

Hi Enrique
again I would place this in higher resolution in my folders. At present I have no idea.

By the other hand, where is your Cubby folder Parorbiliopsis?

The type P. minuta is a Hyaloscypha, and there it is.

Yes. In fact there are many morphological similarities between these two genera, but do you know if this is  genetically confirmed?

Re : Parorbiliopsis (?) on pyrenomycete
Yes, an unpublished sequence of H. minuta clustered within Hyaloscypha.

I think your sample fits very well in my main folder of Hyaloscypha which contains an assemblage of similar UFOs. One has croziers and inamyloid asci and so on....

Re : Parorbiliopsis (?) on pyrenomycete
Hello,

I have some collections here in Italy completely identical to this, on Alnus and other broad-leaved wood, with same hairs and spores, and asci I+ bb without croziers.

Do you have some updates on it, five years after?

Thank you

Mario Filippa
