Diatrype on Betula
Enrique Rubio, 04-09-2012 14:29
Enrique RubioCan this fungus be Diatrype undulata? I have collected it on Betula alba branches at 1600 m and I think could be this species but the macro/micro-differences with another Diatrype species as D. decorticata are very small. Off course, I don't know the conidia. Ostioles are conical, split and slightly protruding. Perithecia up to 500 microns long. I see any blue reaction of the apical pore in Mlz., IKI or KOH pret. (Rappaz says that the asci are I (+)!!)
What do you think?
Many thanks again

Re : Diatrype on Betula
Dear Enrique,
We had a discussion on this forum, a apart of your answers are inside : http://www.ascofrance.fr/search_forum/16922
My personal opinion is that your fungus is very probably D. undulata. I recognize ondulate (ethymology of undulata) stromate that I regularly observe on Betula. But you are right,  teleomorphs are very close.
Very good photos, as usual !

Cher Alain

Merci beaucoup
Enrique
