Allophylaria on Geum urbanum
Bohan Jia, 23-11-2025 11:16
Hi,

I found small discs growing on dead stem of Geum urbanum weeks ago. Yesterday I examined them under the microscope. My guess is Allophylaria. The closest species seems to be A. filicinum. But it should grow on ferns? Also, I couldn't see the clear structure of the asci-wall and when using Lugol there were no porus-reaction...

Maybe someone can help?

Re : Allophylaria on Geum urbanum
Obviously overmature. You are probably right with A. filicum, which has inamyloid asci.

I guess that the host is a fern indeed, judging from the stem structure, at least I consider this possible.
