Hysteropatella
Tomaz Vucko, 14-02-2025 23:15
Tomaz VuckoHy!
Last one for today.

How would you identify this Hysteropatella I found on detached bark of Salix? H.elliptica? I mostly noticed only greenish colors.
Spore measurements are:
(22.3) 22.9 - 28.3 (32.1) × (7.4) 7.8 - 9.4 (9.8) µm
Q = (2.5) 2.7 - 3.3 (3.4) ; N = 21
Me = 25.4 × 8.5 µm ; Qe = 3
Jan 2025, Slovenia.

Thanks!

Re : Hysteropatella
Difficult to say. I tend to H. elliptica although my description gives smaller spores: *18–24(–25.5) × (5.3–)6–7.5 µm {from 8 collections}, but 25-28 when 5-septate and 8-8.5 µm wide when overmature.

Thanks for the thoughts! Yes, my collection does not fit the best with others I think. Is on the other hand blue pigment obligatory for H. elliptica?

Re : Hysteropatella
yes, I remember so. My description says: apically covered by a dark (olivaceous-)blackish-brown to greenish-black, cloddy KOH-inert exudate; upper part immersed in deep blue-grey or blue-green gel {5}, inert to KOH but more distinctly blue-green, sometimes slightly dissolved into medium, pale reddish in PVA, grey-violaceous in acetic acid but again deep blue in KOH {2}

Re : Hysteropatella
Aha, okay! I wondered because I quite searched for it and couldn't find it.
Thanks once again for the reply!
