Didymella applanata? Small black spots on perennial stem of blackberry
Wim de Groot, 10-01-2025 11:24
We found this small black spots on perennial stem of blackberry with an interesting microscopy. I would be very thankfull for suggestions which species we have here. What strikes me is the green-coloured ascus (in water). Or is this an artifact? Maybe Didymella applanata? In pictures of that species I see small asci whereas my specimen has very wide asci.

Hi,
this should be compared with Ploettnera exigua. The greenish parts of the fruitbody are typical, you can alos check in IKI, ascus porus should react red.

Hi Björn,

I cannot find information of this species on this forum or by a google search. Do you have a link to Ploettnera exigua?
