Hi, I found these black cup fungi on recently broken hardwood branches from Acer saccharum. They look very similar to Bulgariella pulla, but Adam Polhorsky pointed out that they lacking VBs in paraphyses and the habitat is very unusual. Branches probably were attached to the trees and they were broken by recent winter storm. I'm hoping that someone has suggestion what else it could be.
