Microthyrium on Alnus?
Marc Detollenaere, 19-04-2023 07:31
Marc DetollenaereDear Forum,
On a small branch of Alnus glutinosa I found some small black pyrenomycetes(0.2mm) with hyaline 1-septate spores of 19.5x4.5µ.Each part of the spore contained 2 large guttules. The asci were remarkebly sacculate.Any ideas?

Re : 1-septate pyreno on Alnus
Hi

Tricky one. The asci and spores (though not the perithecium, from what I can see) remind me a little of Microthyriales. Were the perithecia/pseudothcia flattened? Might the spores have very thin appendages? (oil immersion + cotton blue).

Cordialement, Chris

Re : Microthyrium on Alnus?
Hi Chris,

It looks indeed as a Microthyreaceae. Following the genus key, I arrived at Microthyrium but in Microthyrium I have no match. No appendages or cilia were seen in cottonblue.
Another genus?

Bonsoir Marc,
