Pirottaea cf. veneta on Hellebornis purpurascens (Ranunculaceae)
Alex Akulov,

Dear colleaguesYesterday on the dead overwintered petioles of the rare plant Hellebornis purpurascens (Ranunculaceae) I met Pirottaea representative. Asci are mostly immature, so I have seen only several ascospores. I am unfamiliar with this genus of Discomycetes before, so I need your advice.
Sincerely, Alex

Re : Pirottaea cf. veneta on Hellebornis purpurascens (Ranunculaceae)
Hello Alex!
I am surprized to see you are fine and back in the forum, and are even able to use a microscope.
Pirottaea is very difficult. P. veneta I only know from images of Dragisa Savic, also on Helleborus. Where the differences against P. gallica/nigrostriata are I do not know.
Best wishes!
Zotto

Re : Pirottaea cf. veneta on Hellebornis purpurascens (Ranunculaceae)
Thank you, Zotto
We learned to survive and work in war conditions.
My family and I have been in Ternopil for a year, far from our home. I bought a microscope with a camera and when time permits I try to work with fungi to distract myself from daily thoughts about rocket attacks, destruction and peoples who died at the front.
Friendly,
Alex
