Pirottaea cf. veneta on Hellebornis purpurascens (Ranunculaceae)
Alex Akulov, 17-04-2023 11:52
Alex AkulovDear colleagues
Yesterday on the dead overwintered petioles of the rare plant Hellebornis purpurascens (Ranunculaceae) I met Pirottaea representative. Asci are mostly immature, so I have seen only several ascospores. I am unfamiliar with this genus of Discomycetes before, so I need your advice.

Sincerely, Alex

Hello Alex!

I am surprized to see you are fine and back in the forum, and are even able to use a microscope.

Pirottaea is very difficult. P. veneta I only know from images of Dragisa Savic, also on Helleborus. Where the differences against P. gallica/nigrostriata are I do not know.

Best wishes!

Zotto

Thank you, Zotto

We learned to survive and work in war conditions.

My family and I have been in Ternopil for a year, far from our home. I bought a microscope with a camera and when time permits I try to work with fungi to distract myself from daily thoughts about rocket attacks, destruction and peoples who died at the front.

Friendly,
Alex

Thank you, it is hardly conceivable what you must experience. Zotto

Yes Alex, thank you to be here in AscoFrance.
All the best to you, your family, and your brave people.
