Asco on Hedera
Anna Klos, 17-03-2023 15:07
Yesterday, during an inventarisation in Zoetermeer (The Netherlands) we found some ascomycetes on a leaf of Hedera. In my search to find the right species, I saw a topic on this forum which pointed to Lambertella tetrica. As far as I can see, all features seems to match my found. Am I right?

Spores: 23-26 x 5 mu

With kind regards,

Anna

I also see a good match, but I never saw this species myself.

Did you check the negative iodine reaction of the asci?

Re : Asco on Hedera
No, I did not check the negative iodine reaction of the asci. But if necessary, maybe I can send the find to someone who can do it for me.

With kind regards,

Anna

Re : Asco on Hedera
Hmm, you don't have iodine! The standard reagent in mycology. If you find someone, tell him that he/she should use Lugol not Melzer which may suppress iodine reactions.

Yes, I think Lambertella tetrica as a good possibility.

Re : Asco on Hedera
I have found someone!
She (Riet) is a frequent visitor of this forum, she knows how to use the chemicals needed.
Thank you very much for your reply.

With kind regards,

Re : Asco on Hedera
Si, parece l. tetrica
Hay otra especie de lambertella que también puede crecer en Hedera helix, es L. jasmini, morfológicamente son muy similares pero se separan muy bien por la forma de las esporas que son diferentes.
