nectrioid fungus with Volutella from Portugal
Lothar Krieglsteiner, 15-02-2023 11:03
Lothar Krieglsteiner.. found 4.2.23 near Monchique, on Rubus fruticosus. First, I only noticed the red perithecia and found them unripe, so I put them back into the bag and looked a week later. Then I found asci and spores, and a lot of Volutella anamorph growing in the vicinity.

(In the meantime I also found another Nectria with Volutella on Carpobrotus which I can show later)

When recherching about the latter, I found that Volutella anamorphs can be found in Volutellonectria and Pseudonectria.

Back to the Rubus collection: the peridium reacts dark red when mounted in KOH (foto 6,7) and yellow when mounted in LA (foto 8). The 1-septate spores are about 13-18/5-6 µm large.

Can somebody say more? If yes, I would also show pictures of my (different) Carpobrotus collection.

Yours, Lothar
