Tryblis arnoldii? No, Durella atrocyanea
Philipp Eschmann,

I'm an amateur from Switzerland, this is my first post.
I found this fungus on a dead branche at about 900m altitude. The closest fit I could find is Tryblis arnoldii, but im not quite convinced yet. The size of the asci differs quite a bit from the values given in Cryptogamica Helvetica 23. Also the Substrate doesn't really fit. It looks like Fagus or at least deciduous wood to me.
Spores: 14.9 - 16.9 - 19.3 x 5.5 - 5.8 - 6.8. Q = 2.6 - 2.9 -3.4 n=14
Asci: ca. 90-100 x 13 IKI-
There are also Conidiomata present which look kinda similar in color. I wonder if it's the same fungus.
Any suggestions?
Best wishes
Philipp

Durella atrocyanea?

Re : Tryblis arnoldii?
Interesting red color of the substrate.
The Plasia anamorph should be cyano-colored and have different conidia.
This can be the another one, similar to D. atrocyanea species.
Dont remember the name, sorry.
D. aurantonigra?

Re : Tryblis arnoldii?
Durella, of course... That was actually one of my first ideas after Patinellaria but somehow i got lost.
There is a Durella 'aurantionigra' in Zottos folders under Xylogramma where the conidia seem to fit better as in D. atrocyanea.

Hello Piotr!!!
Yes, D. atrocyanea, as long as we do not understand this species better. D. aurantionigra was an idea but I am not sure about its value.
The substrate is not Fagus, I suppose Acer.

Hello Zotto,
Good to read you again :-)
I need to look into my fungarium, because as far I remember there was two pure cultures from Plasia stage, usefull for sequencing.
MfG,
P.

Hi Piotr!
indeed I remember this also.
I see, one was without Plasia: PP 20071028
Plasia was here: 20100213-003H with long 3-7-septate conidia

Hi Piotr !
I have no particular thing to add to your post but for the good surprise to see you again on this forum . I am sure you remember our meetings in France ...
I can notice that you obviously kept a tight attach with ascomycetes.
Please feel welcome !
AmitiésMichel
