Hello,

I found these small black ascomycetes on the ground and litter of hardwood and coniferous wood in The Netherlands. Mainly on the embankment of a dried-up stream.
Found in a mixed forest with deciduous and coniferous trees.

They are between 1-3 mm in size. At first, they are black in color and completely enclosed.
Now that they are more developed, they are unfolding. The outside turns brown, the inside yellow.

The top of the asci turns blue with Lugol.
Size of the asci: 110-150 mu long and 9-10 mu wide.

The spores have two, sometimes three oildrops and little oildrops between it.
Size of the spores: 10-16 mu long and 4-7 mu wide.
Q= 2.5

Regards,
Ronald Morsink

Re : Podophacidium
I think it is a nice collection of Podophacidium xanthomelum.

Thank you very much Enrique.

Is there maybe something else I can check from this species?

I also looked microscopically with KOH 5%.
I get the same picture and characteristics as in your article.
