Claussenomyces atrovirens?
Mirek Gryc, 22-01-2021 19:09
Hi
The collection is from 2016, but I only microscoped it today.
According to the available keys, Claussenomyces atrovirens seems to be the most likely. I don't know its this genre so I'm afraid it might be something else?
Most of the spores with 7 septas, a large proportion of 3-5 sept, and a few more than 7 septas, I found a maximum of 9 septas.
Spore dimensions:
(13.5) 14.2 - 19.3 (24.4) × (2.6) 3.1 - 3.7 (4.1) µm
Q = (3.5) 4.6 - 6 (6.8); N = 17
Me = 17 × 3.3 µm; Qe = 5.2

19.88 3.68
18.67 3.09
24.36 3.58
14.22 4.07
17.81 3.12
17.96 3.83
16.37 3.01
13.46 2.65
14.57 3.12
16.19 3.33
16.36 3.21
16.49 3.21
13.50 3.17
19.33 3.17
14.63 3.06
17.71 3.08
17.01 3.69

Re : Claussenomyces atrovirens?
Interesting collection. Could you make a KOH mount for showing the spore contents?

This does not produce ascoconidia but is similar to C. prasinulus. We have one with cream to pale greenish apothecia, called "Waldhaff", a place in Luxembourg. It was on Betula and Alnus wood.

What's the substrate?

Re : Claussenomyces atrovirens?
Hi Zotto.
I was a bit surprised because the collection is already a few years old, but the features are clearly visible and the ascomata is in perfect condition :)
As for the substrate, it was a very rotten stump whose species I could not define. However, due to the nature of the tree cover, it must have been deciduous. Both Betula and Alnus are very likely.
I took pictures in KOH and Lugol but I have them on another computer. In the evening, when I come back from work, I will try to present them.

Re : Claussenomyces atrovirens?
Unfortunately, it turned out that I didn't take good enough pictures of ascus in KOH.
If that's important, I'll try to do it a bit later.
Now I am posting a few more photos (koh, Lugol, dye), maybe they will explain something?
greetings
Mirek

Re : Claussenomyces atrovirens?
I think this is sufficient, the oil content in the spores is now visible.

I would be pleased to take the collection data too. When it comes to a paper, perhaps in some years, we would like to include your data too. As far as I see at the moment, it is this same species. I am not sure of Luis wants to gain a sequence - we will see. Please keep this fine material.

Re : Claussenomyces atrovirens?
date of collection: 2016.08.05
Poland; Podlaskie voivodeship; Supra?l commune.
The village of Ogrodniczki, 300 m S
Mid-field tree cover, deciduous stand
Substrate: I suspect a stump from Populus, but other hardwoods also possible (Betula, Alnus?)

While reading the forum, I have already realized that Luis is also interested in this genre.
If Luis wants to do a sequence, I'll gladly send him part of the collection. I'm just asking for an address.

Re : Claussenomyces atrovirens?
Dear Mirek
Nice collection, I would be very happy if you could send me part of your collection to work by myself the morphology and also get DNA. If that possible? if so, please write me an email to lquijull@gmail.com and we can talk more about your collection and my project in this genus.
Best wishes
Luis
