Bionectriaceae (?) on Ulmus
Enrique Rubio, 06-02-2017 19:56
Enrique RubioHi to everybody. Hi Christian (by the way, what a wonderfull pics of Pleomassaria!)
These small (up to 200-250 microns), gregarious, KOH-negative, superficial, not on a stroma, more or less glabrous perithecia, were found on Ulmus minor bark. They are not very well preserved, with no many ascospores for good measurements, but they seem to be smooth and with up to seven tranverse septa. Asci broadly fusiform. Peridium thick, up to 80 microns, complex, with an inner orange layer. No anamorph seen.
What do you think?

Dear friends,
thank you for your compliments.
Enrique, I think your fungus is Xanthonectria pseudopeziza (Desm.) Lechat, J. Fourn. & P.-A. Moreau.

Good evening,
Cheers,
Christian

Hi Christian
Yes. You're right. I just read it in Ascomycete.org.
Thanks a lot
