Obolarina etymology
Björn Nordén, 01-02-2017 10:23

Anyone here who happens to know the etymology of the genus name Obolarina? Or can check in the original description by Pouzar in ?eská Mykol. 40(1): 7 (1986)? Apparently an obol was an ancient greek silver coin so I suppose it is dereived from that?

Re : Obolarina etymology
Pouzar does not give an etymology. But since he segregated O. from Nummularia (a "coin name" as well), your guess might be good that the base is obolus.

Martin

Re : Obolarina etymology
Thanks!, yes I thought so, sounds plausible although Obolarina dryophila looks like anything but a coin : )
