stalked imperfect fungus (basidiomycetous)
Hans-Otto Baral, 25-08-2016 23:34
Hans-Otto BaralHere is a strange conidial fungus, with stilbelloid conidiomata about 7 mm tall.
The head is tough and cotton-like, in section it gets red-brown.

Peculiar are the conidia 5-6 µm diam. and their formation laterally at the conidiogenous cells, and the collar that remains on them after secession.

The mycelium has clamps, so it shoud be a basidiomycete.

Growing on Picea wood 50 cm above ground.

Collected perhaps in the Zillertal by a friend of Bernd Fellmann.

Hi Zotto,

Could it be Phleogena faginea?

Cheeers,
Nick

Indeed, you are right! Seems to be a macroscopically variable fungus.
So these are basidiospores?

I knew merely the name.

Gilbert, Bernd says me that he did not smell anything, but the fungus is now rather dry. Should smell like Maggi?  I actually studied this species once, but forgot about it.

Oui, sur le frais, l'odeur est assez forte et surprenante.
