Violet Peziza
Zuzana Sochorová (Egertová), 24-08-2016 20:30
Zuzana Sochorová (Egertová)Hello, I would like to discuss this violet Peziza from Slovakia. Using the key by Hohmeyer, I came to Peziza lividula, but the shape of spores is more ellipsoid than shown in pictures in literature.

It grew in a margin of a way, on calcareous background, in a group. Apothecia were dark violet, plane or shallow cup-shaped, smooth, 9-27 mm broad, not bleeding any fluid.

Spores ellipsoid, 16.5-20 x 8.5-10.5 micrometer, (measured in water, from sporeprint), hyaline, ornamented with distinct, isolated, regular warts, having two guttules (4.2-5.5 micrometers broad).
Asci cylindric, 290-345 x 12-15 micrometers, containing 8 spores in one row, amyloid.
Paraphyses straight, septate, with dark ochre pigment, 2.5-3 micrometers broad, apex 6-7.5 micrometers broad.
Medulla consisting of large globose cells, up to 55 micrometers in diameter, sometimes with some cylindric elements.
Ectal excipulum similar, with somewhat smaller cells.
No gel noticed.
Thank you, Zuzana

Re : Violet Peziza
Chère Zuzana,

Bien que les ascospores soient un peu plus petites, je pense qu'il peut s'agir de Peziza howsei (Boud.) Donadini. A noter que cette espèce peut être franchement violette.

Re : Violet Peziza
Dear René,
thank you very much for answer. Spores were measured from sporeprint and the calibration of microscope controlled recently, so the dimensions should be right.
