Tapesia hydrophyla
Yannick Mourgues, 22-03-2008 00:37
Yannick MourguesBonsoir.

I have found something like Tapesia hydrophyla, but I would like to know 2 things :

1. Spores are 11,1-11,8x2,9-3,2 um. Isn't it too big ?
2. I have found them on Picea abies bark. I know we can find this specie on Phragmites, but what do you think about Picea abies ?

High Yannick

Apothecia seem to be quite hairy. I suggest you try Andreas' Mollisia key (Tapesia is a synonym), f.ex. on my DVD, there you see what characters should be examined. I fear this probably interesting collection cannot be identified without knowing about spore guttules, IKI-reaction and KOH-reaction, croziers, and also a section showing pigmentation of the excipulum and the marginal region.

Hi.

I haven't be able to find a satisfactory identification with Andreas' Mollisia key.
Here are all microscopical details.
What do you think about my specie ?

Hi.

Yes, you are right : apothecia are hairy. I have tried Andreas' Mollisia key, but I didn't find a satisfactory name.
Here are micro details.
Can we say more with them ?

Re:Tapesia hydrophyla
The hairs are actually very long. The photo looks really like a Mollisia. I doubt a bit that the paraphyses are really without contents. If so it cannot be a Mollisia. Possibly you have studied dead paraphyses? The asci are dead as you draw them (spores in living asci cluster at the apex). I assume the excipulum is brown, at least near the base. Maybe a photo of a median section of the excipulum on flanks and margin would help. Sorry for being unable to say more. Perhaps Andreas has an idea?

Re:Tapesia hydrophyla
Dear Zotto.

I have studied again my specie but I can't say more about it. I haven't seen any paraphyses with oil content. As you said, the excipulum is brown near the marge. I was't able to make a median section of the excipulum.
So, could I send you my specie ? If so, must I dry it ?

Re:Tapesia hydrophyla
Please don't dry it. Yes, you may send, in the case that Andreas does not wish to see it. It seems he is not online the last days. Pleayse take care that it is not damaged by pressure in the mails.
You still have my address?

Re:Tapesia hydrophyla
Bonsoir Yannick, Hallo Zotto

Amicalement,
Andreas

Hi.

Unfortunately, I sent you all my collection... Bad luck for me! I will try to find some again.
I'm sure paraphyses had croziers.
I will go to Melle in April, yes !

Re:Tapesia hydrophyla

J'y retournerai demain.
