Bonjour à tous, Je recherche cette publication :

Found on cow dung. At first I was thinking about S. pulchella but measurements did not cope with the discription in "Revision of Sporormia and Sporormiella" 1972 Ahmed & Cain CJB Vol. 50, 456/457. Interesting was that they only appeared close to or on the surrounding dung of Podospora pyriformis. (photo-1, where you observe the necks of the species next to the ostiole of P. pyriformis bursting out of the dung surface)
Perithecia: 173-186 um in diameter, with a neck of 95x40 um.
Asci: 8-spored; at first 74-83x8.4-8.85 um; expanding in water 90-100x9.3-9.65 um; with a long stalk.
Spores: multi serial; 17-18.5x3.0-3.55 um; 2nd cell has a width of 3.9-4.4 um; end cells longer then mid-cells; transverse septa; straight or slightly curved; with an oblique to diagonal germ slit
I've never heard about a Sporormiella with such small spores!
Are you sure, that your measurements are right?
Regards
Norbert
Yes I am sure Norbert.
I do have them in collection, when they are still there do you want me to send you some for confirmation?
Joop
I'm interested very much, Joop!
Norbert
Like us informed Norbert! Thank you!
Michel.
Hello Michel,
I did find some new species yesterday and I will send them to Norbert together with the Cercophora species of which I think it is C. sordariodes with 5 septa instead of 1.
I also looked in Revision of Sporormia and Sporormiella by Ahmed & Cain and found S. dakotensis very close to the dimensions of this species.
Probably some of the measurements I have made of spores are from immature spores but the find of yesterday were 20-5-21.5x 3.5-3.8 um and asci 80-90x9-9.5 um whereby the stipe measured between 18 and 21 um, against 100-120x9-11 um by Cain with a stipe length of 45 um. Germ slit parallel to oblique.
thank you for sending this interesting Sporormiella.
I found only one pseudothecium with overripe asci, but I could observe some ascospores.
The measurements are nearly the same like yours. 17-20 x 2,5-3(4)µm.
Germ slits were to be seen difficult, but I could find some parallel until slightly oblique.
I'm sure, that this species is
Sporormiella minutisperma Doveri & Coué,
which was described in 2008!
I have to change my private key!
Congratulation to this special finding!
Regards
Norbert
Thank you.
Michel.
