Hello Hannie,
it is hard to recognize intg he pictures, as they are quite small and compressed. But may be it is a Hyphodiscus what you have there.
I'm not sure wether that what you describe as ornage initials is really the initial of the hairy cups. may be you have something like a Cryptodiscus AND a Hyphodiscus on this twig?
best regards,
Andreas
Hello Hannie,
the first pictured definitely shows a Hyphodiscus, may be H. hemiamyloideus, but then the porus should react blue than red in IKI - you will recieve the Barals solution soon ;-)
The thirs pictures is probably the same, but the second picture may show something else, a Claussenomyces may be or Patellaria atrata. But may be only overaged Hyphodiscus. You need to verify under the microscope ....
best regards,
Andreas

I would be happy to make a note where you found this. Is it perhaps from a planted shrub?
Zotto
Hello Hannie,
you will have to wait what the porus reaction says, and then have a carful look how the spores look like (oil guttules inside) and what the measruements are.
Then you can determine the species, usually it is not a problem.
Hyphodiscus hymeniophilus usually occures on the pore surface of Antrodia serialis and other polypores. The Hyphodiscus reddeens the substrate, but some other species in Hyphodiscus do that too with wood, so that you have the apothecia sitting on red coloured parts of the wood.
If don't see on your pictures that your Hyphodiscus reddens the wood.
best regards,
Andreas
I have no idea what a tree or shrub may be Zotto. I've found in a wooded bank. Near a castle they made a sort of wooded bank, with all kind of trees. Whenever there is new trimmings thrown on top. I am very happy every time I find nice ascomyceten on it. The bottom layer is already quite rotten. The pijt me that I can not mention to what type of wood it is.
Regards Hannie
I'm aware that I have to examen him again, that's no problem. In this way I only can learn. No there was no redding at the wood.
Thanks for helping me.

How is this castle called?
tHe castle is called: Gelderse toren. it is between Brummen en Dieren. Here are the coord. 206 en 452,9 in Holland. It is on clayground.
I was thnking about the kind of wood. I remember that there were long tiny twigs and a lot of them. If it is neccesary I can go overthere and look for material. There was also a kind of mollisia on it but I have to look which one it is.
I don;t know the mesning of this sentence. can uou explain it to me?

I meant that substrates are not really necessary to know because many fungi grow on almost everything. But anyhow I want to know :-)
Hello Guy, how nice you made it on the picture. I wait tilt the new chemicals arrive and then I'll do it again.
Thanks
Hannie
