Pyrenomycete on stem of Papaver orientale

I found a pyrenomycete on poppy stems (probably P. orientale) yesterday but despite Ellis & Ellis Microfungi on Land Plants I've been unable to identify it and wondered if anyone could comment?
Before collapsing inwards the perithecia appeared similar to those of Leptosphaeria, Melomastia etc but the spores were light brown becoming darker, muriform with 5-7 horizontal septa, 27-37 x 12-15 µm.
With regards,
Jenny

Re : Pyrenomycete on stem of Papaver orientale
Hello Jenny
Welcome to the Ascofrance community. I had hoped that your fungus would be Crivellia papaveracea (see http://naldc.nal.usda.gov/catalog/11911) but it seems instead to be the plurivorous Pleospora herbarum. The Crivellia used to be included within Pleospora, but it has a different anamorph and less copiously septate ascospores.

Thank you Paul - and I'll hope to come across Crivellia papaveracea another time!
