Helotiales gen. sp. from Menyanthes trifoliata
Nina Filippova, 20-06-2014 09:46
I have showed earlier this species, which is abundant on fallen decaying leaves of Menyanthes trifoliata in the bog. I want to show it again since it was not identified and it is so common species there.

Coordinates: N60,891942° E68,681502°, 20.06.2014.

Apothecia cupulate, form sessile to short-stipitate, whitish, translucent, outer surface some gelatinous, hymenial surface minutely powdery from incrusted paraphyses, 300-800 mk in diameter.

Ectal excipulum from loosely arranged hyphae, narrowing to its ends, which create gelatinous surface; internal excipulum layer from prismatic hyaline cells about 26 x 13 mk, smaller to the edge; edge from cylindrical to clavate tight cells with incrustation in upper part, about 30 x 10 mk. Asci with not clear crozier, with euamyloid ring, 87-105 x 9.4-12 mk; paraphyses cylindrical in lower part, lanceolate in upper part (about 6 mk broad there), rarely branched, upper part with pale vacuoles, incrusted with hyaline amorphous substance; spores fusoid, with obtuse ends, without oils, 13.3 (12-14.7) x 3.8 (3.4-4.1) mk (n=20).

You mean this posting:
http://www.ascofrance.fr/search_forum/24288

Could belong in Pezoloma. You have a hyphpoid outer layer of ectal excipulum and brick-shaped inner layer.

I have nothing in my database on Menyanthes!

Re : Helotiales gen. sp. from Menyanthes trifoliata
Thanks Zotto,

yes, this posting is about the same species.

I have been collecting three discomycetes on this plant litter recently: Rutstroemia paludosa, Mollisia sp., and mentioned one (cf. Pezoloma).
