The book has good illustrations. The selection of genera treated is highly biased and many important genera are missing. Genera with cleistothecia have the authors´ preference as shown in numerous older publications by the same authors. The delimitation between hyphomycetes and perithecial soil fungi (here those producing ascomata in vitro) is very vague and the nomenclature is pre-2013 (unification of names for pleomorphic fungi). A user will often also need other literature to reach a good identification. Walter
