Hi Enrique,
your collection more reminds me on M. chrysostroma than on M. alni, which has very distinct and long appendages.

The spores seem a little on the large size, but in general it looks all right; do you have Wehmeyer's 1941 "Revision"?

Yes. I have read Wehmeyer's paper but he says 'the spores often show terminal appendages.......... wich measure 3-7 x 2-4.....'
The appendages of my spores are shorter, up to 2 microns only

he also says thats they are evanescent or may be completely lacking; I wonder how important the length is - while looking at various Gnomonia species recently it has struck me that appendage length can be a very plastic character - I stand to be corrected.

Melanconiella flavovirens on Corylus, very typical.

Perhaps a few words about this topic:
we know since 2002 (Castlebury et al., Mycologia) that Melanconis is polyphyletic.
Most species are in Melanconiella. We had to "kill" M. chrysostroma, unfortunately.
We have not published on Melanconis yet, but there are not so many species left. Some like e.g. M. carthusiana do not belong to these genera despite superficial similarity of both teleo- and anamorphs.
