Mick PeerdemanHi all,One of my earliest microscopy attempts, so
Nectria mammoidea?
Björn Wergen,

Hi,I just need a confirmation that I am on the right way with my new Nectria finding on Fraxinus. Perithecia 0,2-0,4mm, with distinct darker ostiole region, orangered to dark red. Spores smooth (?), up to 20x8µm, mostly with a single septa, but some spores with a second septa, thickwalled. Asci with 8 spores. Wall up to 40-50µm thick.
thanks and regards,
björn

Dear Björn,
It could be Neonectria ditissima (Tul. & C. Tul.) Rossman & Samuels

Re : Nectria mammoidea?
Hi Christian,
yes, the ditissima was my second opinion, in Nordic Macromycetes (Vol 1) it seems not really clear what "Perithecia uniformly coloured" means (the perithecia were not uniformly coloured). If I select this way, I come directly to N. ditissima with spores around 14-21x5-8µm, which fits well to my finding.
I know that I have some Nectria-keys somewhere on my PC. If you have some helpful docs, please let me know, I am very interested in pyrenos at all and especially Nectria, Valsa, Diaporthe, Pleospora and so on :D
regards,
björn
