White with long hairs

Hello,
this morning I went to pick some Psilachnum cassandrae. While picking and looking for more of them I found a beautiful white thing on one of the Chamaedaphne leaves. After picking enough I looked, if something interesting would turn out on Andromeda leaves and found a little more of this :)
They are about 0,1 to 0,3 mm wide.

Re:White with long hairs
The spores are about 5-9x1-2 containing some tiny droplets, asci about 25-45x4 and paraphyses septate about 1.5-2 wide.
But the hairs, they are huge compared to the size of these! They are about 120-200x3-5 micrometers and don't melt away in KOH.
It's propabky not an Unguculella species, so what genus does these represent?

Hello,
I've studied this a little. Could it be a Hyalopeziza?
H. ciliata is close, but don't fit perfectly and some Hyalopeziza species have same kind of septate paraphyses as this.
I've never found a Hyalopeziza species, so one would be more than wellcome ;)

Hi Marja,
your hairy find make me think of some Arachnopeziza. In that genus there is some tiny species with no subiculum (which seems to be the case there)

No other idea at the time...

Best wishes
Pascal

Re:White with long hairs
Finally I got the idea that your fungus should be Hyaloscypha leuconica. This is the only Hyaloscypha I know which has hairs with glassy walls. Spores would fit well. Would be great to now croziers or not because there is a var. leuconica H+ and var. bulbopilosa H-.

I never found var. leuconica, only bulbopilosa. But Enrique Rubio seems to have found var. leuconica. He sent images to me in July 2008, but it seems I lost the text to them during our harddisk crash. Enrique, could you please tell me the data? Here is your macro. I cannot find it in Ascofrance.

Re:White with long hairs
Thank you folks,

I thought, that at least with these crozies have no importance. Just look, how right I was...
I'm really poor with them. But luckily I can and will send these to Seppo and my worries about croziers or not faint away ;)

(I'm propably a burden for him-piling up the heap of specimen to be studied on his desk.)

Marja

Hello,
sorry I'm really poor with noticing the croziers.

Thank you folks: Marja.
