Help for a coiled haired Olla-like Hyalo.
Michel Hairaud, 10-01-2010 19:39
Michel HairaudBonsoir à tous,
Hi to everyone.

I found the following Hyaloscyphaceae on Corylus (among Unguiculariopsis sp.) on January 1rst .
Apos white, x 0.25-30 mm, Spherical to urceolate at first, then cupulate, no stipe, getting light yellowish
Ascus short, 25-28 x 6 µm, with croziers ; IKI and MLZ négative

Spores biguttulate, hyaline, 5-6 x 2 µm

Hairs as in Olla species, up to 40 µm long, with glassy process not staining in IKi or CRB and not disappearing in KOH ¨%. COILED AND EVEN TWISTED !!
Ectal excipulum Textura prismatica

Hi Michel,
congratulations you found Hyalopeziza curvipila sp. nov. ;-)
When hairs not reactive in Mlz &lugol, KOH inert but reactive in CR = Hyalopeziza i think. Judging your photo the asci have the same downward hook as in O. transiens, check free asci base in CR for double check the presense of croziers.

Hi Stip,
Thank ou very much for your enthusiastic trebble answer.
Here is a picture of hairs in CR . No lumen has been observed but Hyalopeziza could be the proper genera for this collection (MH10110)
As for the Unguiculariopsis, the name could come later , once Zotto has published a similar collection in the Melle area.

Amitiés et très bonne année.

Re:Help for a coiled haired Olla-like Hyalo.
Hi Michel,
I thought Ascofrance was not responding.
the lumen is very inconspicious but present as you will see, i think this is a twisted Hyalopeziza :-)
the irregular hair shape occurs more often in Hyalopeziza
Cheers Stip
