Hypocreal ?
Joaquin Martin, 07-07-2016 21:06
Hi,

I was found this Hypocreal on Rhamnus wood, the wood changes to red as you can see in the pics.
The number of spores in asci is between 12 and 16.
Any ideas.
Thanks. Joaquin.

Re : Hypocreal ?

Very interesting !

Could you describe ascomata ?

There are 8 phragmospores per ascus (8x2=16). It would be useful to know if asci are unitunicate or bitunicate.

Re : Hypocreal ?
Hola

Tengo una recolecta muy similar, en Tenerife, y creo que es un hongo hysteriaceo, posiblemente Hysterodifractum sp.

Rubén.

Re : Hypocreal ?

Ok, hysterial form should exclude the genus Ohleria.

Hysterodifractum was my first idea.

As you note, it's different from H. partisporum, so probably an ined. sp.

But Joaquin first has  to give us more  informations in order to confirm it's an hysteriale.

Re : Hypocreal ?
Yes, it is hysteriaceous. We have sequenced it, e.g. also from Tenerife. Margaret Barr knew it also from Florida and she wanted to publish it in Ohleria. This was before sequencing. Fresh material would be welcome.
Best wishes, Walter
