Re : Hyphomycet on rotten plant
Lieber Thorben, You should try to find conidiogenous cells. Without seeing these I am quite lost with your pictures. Or at least aa low power view to see how the conidia are arranged on the synnema.  Good luck Walter

Guten Morgen Thorben. This seems to be a Botryosporium, but I do not recall striate conidia in this genus. Perhaps an artefact of preparration?  Cheers Walter

Re : Hyphomycet on rotten plant
Hallo Walter

Possibly that the striate conidia are an artefact.
I'm not sure about this, because i prepare in water with fresh fungus (was 3 hours old).
Sometimes there was conidias with no ornament, but mostly with ornament.
I save the fungus as cf. Botryosporium.

best regards,
Thorben

Re : Hyphomycet on rotten plant
I am working on another Botryosporium found in the wild on acanthus mollis, and I am pretty sure that your species is B. longibrachiatum. The closely related B. pulchellum should have dichot. branched conidiophores.

Best regards
Stephen

Re : Hyphomycet on rotten plant
Hi, Stephen,

I think you might be right with your assumption Botryosporium longibrachiatum.
Unfortunately this cannot be confirmed anymore, because I have no more material.
The probably striped ornamentation of the conidia could perhaps also be a dry damage.

best regards,
Thorben

You are welcome Thorben
I agree re shrivelling of spores, although usually they swell up in water. Maybe they require more time for that and you mounter/viewed in a shirt time.

Nice pics by the way.
