Hi forum,
Here is a fungus immersed in Cornus sanguinea.
I think it should be Didymosphaeria massarioides.
Ascomata subglobose to pyriform, ostiole oblique, peridium 30-40 µm, asci bitunicate, cylindrical, 120 x 10 µm, 8-spored, ascospores generally uniseriate, ascospores brown, uniseptate, striate, no or slightly constricted at septum, 14,5-17 x 6-7,5 µm, hamathecium composed of anastamosed paraphyses (s.l.).
Can somebody confirm ?
Alain
for comparison I attach photos of a collection that I once identified as Didymosphaeria massarioides. It does look quite similar to your fungus I'd say. Found on the bark of a living Alnus tree, associated with a Unguiculariopsis species (probably U. robergei subsp. robergei).
Best wishes,
Gernot
