Belonioscyphella or something else?
Johan Myhrer, 08-11-2017 19:37
Was sure this would be something easily solved under the microscope, but I was terribly wrong. Pinkish discs with a short-medium stalk, on unidentified saxicolous moss (Probably Schistidium sp.). The moss was obviosly "infected" and dying.  The closest I have found is Belonioscyphella hypnorum. Could it be? Collected today (Nov 8, 2017) in northern Sweden.

Asci 8-spored, spores 3-septated ~40x8µm. The larger discs about 0,5 mm broad.

Very thankful for any help!

Hi Johan,
your fungus fits well for Belonioscyphella hypnorum.
B. pluriseptata should have mainly 7-septate spores.
Best regards, Zuzana

Thank you for fast response! This should be a new species for Sweden, if its not under other name. Have to check.
