Small disco w long hairs
Karl Soler Kinnerbäck, 06-01-2025 16:54
Hi! Found this small disco on herbaceous stems in Padjelanta, alpine Sweden. Looking for clues to genus.

Hairs brown, multiseptate, ~400 x 4-6.
Asci IKI+
Sp 10-11 x 2

Best regards
Karl

Could be T. relicina.

Re : Small disco w long hairs
Hi Zotto!

I compared with T. relicina and I think it looks pretty good, however I dont have much experience with excipulum types. Did not manage to do a proper section from dry material but maybe I captured what I think is the cuboid textura prismatica?

Also the ascomata have a short stipe, and I added some pics on hair tips.

What do you think? I will try again if needed.

Best regards
Karl

Re : Small disco w long hairs
Yes, this looks pretty good and concurs with my drawing HB 2896. In Breitenback & K. the hair length is even 456 µm! In all collections in my folder the apical ring reacted hemiamyloid, i.e. red in Lugol,at least at higher concentration (of course without KOH, after which only blue can be obtained).

Re : Small disco w long hairs
Thanks alot for taking a look Zotto! I am having trouble finding additional fertile ascomata to check if the ring is hemiamyloid. Do you think this record can be confirmed as relicina anyway? Otherwise I will be satisfied with cf.

Re : Small disco w long hairs
I have no other idea so I would not hesitate.

Espcially such long hairs exclude other species.

Bonjour à tous

J'ai suivi avec intérêt cette discussion
Avez vous fait d'autres photos des spores ?

Cordialement, Yanick

Re : Small disco w long hairs
Hi Yanick,
Unfortunately I could not find a single fertile ascomata after the first one, so no.
