Lachnum on Populus
Juuso Äikäs, 05-10-2020 18:19
These were growing on a piece of thin, fallen branch of Populus tremula.

Hairs without crystals, IKI+, croziers+. Paraphyses protuding only a little bit, 3 - 4 wide. Although I saw a small amount of reddening on some bruised apos -- at least on the outside, still I didn't find any VBs despite many efforts.

Spore measurements:

(5.6) 6.5 - 8.9 (9.1) × (1.7) 1.8 - 2 (2.1) µm
Q = (2.9) 3.5 - 4.6 (5.1) ; N = 15
Me = 7.5 × 1.9 µm ; Qe = 4

The best candidate I have is L. impudicum, but I'm not certain at all.

Re : Lachnum on Populus
Maybe the VBs are absent but the hairs and paraphyses look rather dead.

Re : Lachnum on Populus
Well the VBs are annoyingly easily destroyed and maybe the apos are not in the best condition. There was quite a large amount of spores around every preparation.

Re : Lachnum on Populus
If the VBs are present, it could well be L. brevipilosum.
Best, Lothar
