Fusarium
Hans-Otto Baral, 23-05-2010 21:30
Hans-Otto BaralIn Arcon, le Gué de la Chaux, on attached Pinus sylv. twig in ca. 1 m above ground, grew this Fusarium. Sporodochia 0.6-1 mm diam.

Is it possible to recognize a teleomorph genus, or a species?

Re:Fusarium
Hi Zotto,
your Fusarium resembles to Fusarium circinatum = Gibberella circinata known on Pinus.
Unfortunately, it is impossible to determine this fungus without cultivating it, we have to know if it produces microconidia.
Regards,
Christian

Re:Fusarium
Hi Christian

you know I made a culture of thsi fungus, which grew quite rapidly. After adding acetic acid to it (you recommended tartaric acid) I obtained abundant conidia. There are mainly the large ones but some are small and only 1-septate. Dies that help?

Re:Fusarium
Hi Zotto,
on your photo I see conidia 0-4-septate and I would like to know if there are some conidia 5-septate in your culture. Could you please to send us an image of conidiogenesis from aerial mycelium and another from sporodochia.
Cheers,
Christian

Re:Fusarium
The conidia are mainly 3-4-septate, but I saw a few with 5 septa, see here.

The conidiophores in culture are difficult to photograph, the images are quite bad.

Re:Fusarium
size of conidia fits rather well with F. circinatum according to the scale bar on your third photo but it is very difficult to say which species of Fusarium it is without a complete description.
Maybe Gary will have an opinion?
