Eutypa leioplaca?
Jenny Seawright, 22-02-2015 15:55
Jenny SeawrightHello all,

Another Diatrypaceae for which I'd appreciate confirmation or correction please!
The asci were 8-spored, spores guttulate at the ends, +/- curved, (9)10-12 x 2(2.5) µm.

Using Ellis & Ellis 'Microfungi on Land Plants' it seems to be Eutypa leioplaca but the substrate was dead wood of Betula (or possibly Salix cinerea) rather than Fagus.

With regards,
Jenny

Hi Jenny
You have dived into deep (and sometimes muddy) water with Diatrypaceous fungi! A useful paper is available via Cyberliber, but I have made a PDF of it and attach it here, as it might be useful to others as well.

best wishes
Chris

Re : Eutypa leioplaca?
Oh dear - is it even possible to confirm or correct the genus?

Thank you for the PDF Chris, though it will take me a while to make sense of as I'm afraid I don't speak French....
