Hello, a thin-fleshed Mollisia on a monocot stem
Rose-coloured pyrenos on Cirsium

The asci are 8-spored and IKI negative. The spores are mostly 2-celled and measure 13.6 - 20.4 × 4.1 - 4.8 µm.
Maybe this is something in Nectriaceae, or something close to that?

Re : Rose-coloured pyrenos on Cirsium
Bonjour,
Je pense qu'il s'agit d'un Hydropisphaera. Il y a une clé de Lechat et Fournier dans la revue Ascomycete.org.
Dans le bleu coton, les spores sont ornementées ?

Re : Rose-coloured pyrenos on Cirsium
Thanks for the reply. I found the paper, and the closest fit might be H. cirsii. The name sounds promising, and the substrate of my collection might very well be Cirsium arvense, like mentioned in the paper.
However, that species should have hairs, and the spores should be finely spinulose (although they did look rather smooth in the pic). My collection seems to have smooth spores in CB (I can't rule out some very fine ornamentation). The spore shape and measurements would be fairly close, as would the size and color of the perithecia.
Maybe I'll name this just Hydropisphaera sp.

Re : Rose-coloured pyrenos on Cirsium
Sorry for the late comment - Might it also be worth comparing this collection to Nectriella dacrymycella?

Nick
