Remarque | In my experience this species is not rare in montane/subalpine regions in Styria where it usually grows on decorticated branches of Picea abies still attached to the tree (similar ecology to Propolis hillmanniana, Cryptodiscus muriformis, Mellitiosporium propolidoides). Due to its ecology and often relatively big and strikingly white (sometimes with a hint of pink) apothecia it can be recognized in the field with reasonably high certainty. This is the first time I have found this species on bark of a living tree; the apothecia were smaller and more roundish than typical. |
